ROAN’s hot spring was discovered by its previous owner, and all water was directed straight from the spring source, meaning all our Onsens are genuine natural hot springs.
All water flowing directly from the spring source
All of ROAN’s Onsen Baths have hot spring water flowing directly from the original source. We do not mix it with water nor do we boil it. No Chlorine is added, and we do not recycle or reuse the hot spring water. Natural spring water flows into our Baths then down to the drainage. The water runs 24-7, so our guests can enjoy the Baths at all times.
Types and Characteristics of the Hot Springs
The hot spring water of Ichirino Onsen is of crystal clear and is characterized for its softness and mellowness. Take a dip into our Baths and softly rub your skin in the water. You will be surprised how smooth your skin will become. It is an alkalescent Onsen that will warm your whole body and will keep you warm even after the bath.
The hot spring water is diverted to Ichirino from Iwama Onsen which is about 10-km into the mountains, and is probably the farthest diverted hot spring in Japan. Iwama Onsen is an extraordinary hot spring with a high flow rate and high temperature spring water. Near its source there are even rare oddly-shaped rocks scattered around the area, at which they are formed from the Geyser that spurts out water of 100°C.

・Spring Water for Drinking
Since all our water is straight from the spring source, any hot water coming out of the tap is suitable for drinking. With a hint of aroma from the Onsen, the water has a mellow taste and is easy to drink.
Drinking the water while taking a dip in our Baths allows you to fully absorb the minerals inside and out.
Enclosed by forest trees, our Open-air Onsen Baths allow our guests to enjoy hot spring and forest bathing all together. In season the chirping of the birds and the singing of the bugs echo through the forest, giving you a precious opportunity to soak in the nature of Mt. Hakusan.
Negative ions from the forest provide a soothing experience to one’s mind and body.
Recommendation for Forest Bathing
Forest trees emit active elements such as Phytoncides and Terpenes, and the absorbing of negative ions are also beneficial.
Taking a deep breath of refreshing cold air while bathing in the Onsen is simply wonderful.
You will not regret experiencing the synergistic effect of hot spring and forest bathing.
